Q: Plastic surgeons, dermatologists, cosmetic physicians, dentists and nurses are able to inject cosmetic neuromodulators and hyaluronic acid fillers how do I choose ?
A: While each of these professional groups are clinically qualified to practice cosmetic injectables and most of them have received similar training in proper injection techniques the similarities end there.
Cosmetic injections is part science and part art. Some practitioners get it. Some don’t.
The difference, in our experience from personally training many of these professional groups, is the ability to have an artistic and aesthetic eye for results and the number of faces they have treated, regardless of how long they have had their “professional training”.
GLOW MD and LIPPS & SASS founder and lead injector, Jason, is a Certified Nurse Injector (NINJA for short) and has been injecting since 2007. He has personally worked with thousands of faces that have been very happy with his natural and beautiful results.
Just as you have a preference of hairstylist that you trust with your hair, Jason has built a loyal following of clients over the years that have trusted him with their face.
His goal is to make you happy with your decision and get you the right results for your face.
He is confident enough with his injection practice and knowledge to let you know if he is unable to provide you with your desired result and would happily connect you with a more appropriate practitioner should you wish.
Q: Is BOTOX ® and DYSPORT ® safe to use?
A: Yes, these treatments have been available for over 20 years and millions of people have had successful results. Because the product does not remain in your body, there are no cumulative effects to be concerned about.
Q: There are so many facial products that claim to reduce wrinkles. Why does the BOTOX ® or DYSPORT ® have to be injected?
A:Topical creams and products can moisturize the surface layers of the skin but have very limited (if any) effect on the muscles under the skin. The protein molecules in BOTOX®/DYSPORT ® are too large to pass through the skin to the muscles below. The advanced injection techniques allow the proteins to be introduced to the exact location where they will have the best results.
Q: I heard that botulinum toxin treatments can give me Botulism. Is that true?
A: No, there is no risk of contracting Botulism from these treatments. That is a condition associated with food contamination and can be developed if you ingested contaminated food.
Q: How long do the results last?
A: Responses to doses can vary from person to person but 3-4 months is usually how long it takes for the results to wear off.
Q: Will my face look fake or lack expression after treatment?
A: When treatments are professionally administered, the result of the treatment is a more rested expression, not a frozen expression. This is why injectors with an artistic and aesthetic eye are the only ones truly qualified to do these treatments.
Q: What can I expect after a treatment?
A: After you receive the injection it takes 5-10 minutes for the proteins to be absorbed into the targeted muscle area. This will appear as small bumps under your skin which will disappear. Over the next few days you’ll notice the muscles becoming more relaxed. The full benefit can be seen in 7-14 days. If you have any concerns with your results, they can be assessed and addressed at a follow up appointment.
RESTYLANE ® JUVEDERM ® EMERVEL ®
Q: What kind of cosmetic fillers do GLOW MD and LIPPS & SASS use ?
A: GLOW MD and LIPPS & SASS use hyaluronic acid fillers which provide long lasting results, they are unlikely to cause allergic reactions, and can be reversed if required. These products are sugar gels and reabsorb into the skin.
Just like how an artist will use different paint brushes to reach a desired effect, the cosmetic filler used will depend on what result is desired. Typically, these will be from the Restylane ® or Juvederm ® line of hyaluronic acid fillers.
Q: How long will the effects of the filler last?
A:You can expect the results to last between 12 and 24 months depending on how quickly the filler is reabsorbed by the surrounding tissue. You can expect results in the lip area to last 4-6 months, due to the movement that occurs in this facial area.
Q: What areas of the face can be treated with fillers?
A: The key areas that fillers are helpful for restoring volume include the brows, the hollow areas under the eye, cheeks, the groove from the nose to the mouth, along the jaw line, and shadows under the mouth that can pull your smile downward. Although it’s easy to refer to these general areas as target areas, LIPPS & SASS injectors will look at your face as a whole, and will make recommendations on the best options for you, based on your desired outcome.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: In order to avoid discomfort and minimize bruising, GLOW MD and LIPPS & SASS use a number of techniques to minimize discomfort and achieve your desired results.
Through advanced injection techniques, including the appropriate selection of hyaluronic acid fillers, you will be pleasantly surprised at how minimal the discomfort is.
Q: Are there any activities I need to avoid following my treatment?
A: There may be some slight bruising and swelling around the treatment area for a few days. This is because the product will attract water, which is a desired effect in order to replace the volume that’s missing. You should be able to resume normal activities immediately. In most cases swelling resolves in 48 hours.
